The picture here is an idea of what the pad and insert look like. I just used it for the first time and I really liked it. It was kind of bulky because I bought the overnight long pad to prevent any leakage accidents. It was comfortable and the best part of all, there was no leaking and no smell/odor. I purchased black because I would not be able to see a stain after washing. I hand washed my pads with laundry soap and vinegar. Hung dry over night and it was ready to use for the next day.
My periods are usually 3-4 days long with 2 heavy days in between. For these days I layered my inserts and when the top insert felt soiled, I removed it and used the bottom insert. The inserts are quite absorbent. I was very nervous to use this product because I thought it would leak through my pants/jeans but it didn’t!
I do recommend washing the pads when you first get them as there is fuzzy material on them that you should wash off before use.
